Solar panel installation in Rich County, Utah

Garden City, Laketown, Randolph, and Woodruff: here's how solar is credited in Rich County.

We design, install, and service home and cabin solar, battery backup, off-grid systems, and EV chargers across Rich County.

How your utility credits solar

For Rocky Mountain Power customers in Utah, solar falls under Schedule 137, Net Billing Service. Energy your system sends to the grid earns an export credit rate, with separate summer (June through September) and winter (October through May) rates reviewed and approved by the Utah Public Service Commission. The most recent revision took effect March 1, 2026.

A number of Utah cities run their own electric utilities, and those city-owned utilities set their own terms for customer-owned solar. Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems lists its member utilities publicly.

Because the rules differ by utility, we confirm which utility serves your address, and its current solar terms, before we put a number on your savings.

Permits and approvals

Rich County takes building permit requests online through its iWorQ permit portal.

Green Box Solar is fully licensed and insured for electrical and solar work in both Utah and Idaho. Wherever you are in Rich County, we handle the permits and utility paperwork for you with the city or county office that has jurisdiction over your property.

The federal solar tax credit: what changed

The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit covered 30% of the cost of home solar installed from 2022 through December 31, 2025. The IRS states the credit is not available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025.

For a home system bought with cash or financing today, your savings come from the electricity you no longer buy and from your utility's credit for the energy you send back to the grid. Your quote shows both, using your utility's current terms.

Local facts last verified October 7, 2026. Utility rates and programs change, so we confirm your utility's current terms before every quote.
